L’opera s’ispira alle nature morte. La figura del teschio è tradizionalmente collegata al tema delle Vanitas e dei Memento Mori. Con quest’opera voglio mettere in scena una natura viva: un teschio in decomposizione. Il processo di putrefazione è il processo di decomposizione cui vanno soggette, in determinate condizioni, le sostanze organiche. L’agar agar è una materia organica, viva che si altera con il passare del tempo. L’alterazione della pelle esterna, lascia apparire il teschio in gesso. Le materie e le texture dialogano tra loro: agar agar e gesso, morbido e duro, effimero e permanente. Show me your skull è assimilabile ad una esperienza scientifica. The work is inspired by still lifes. The figure of the skull is traditionally connected to the theme of Vanitas and Memento Mori. With this work I want to stage a living nature: a decaying skull. Rotting is the process of decomposition to which organic substances under certain conditions go. Agar agar is organic, living matter that alters with the passage of time. The alteration of the outer skin, leaves the skull to appear in plaster. Materials and textures dialogue with each other: agar agar and chalk, soft and hard, ephemeral and permanent.
Show me your skull is likened to a scientific experience. Like following the evolution of a petri dish.
